"Bad Seed Pt. 2" is a standout side mission in Borderlands 4, building upon the peculiar ambitions of scientist Lysett. In the first part, the player assisted Lysett in irradiating a bio-engineered seed, ostensibly to cure world hunger but primarily to spite her deceased parents. In "Bad Seed Pt. 2," Lysett plans to plant this seed in the Darkloam Biosphere to prove her genius. The mission begins in the Fades District, where Lysett tasks the Vault Hunter with infiltrating the Biosphere, currently under the control of "The Order." To gain entry, players must first disrupt a propaganda device, drawing out The Order’s security forces for a chaotic firefight. Once inside the Biosphere, the gameplay shifts to platforming through its industrial interior, requiring players to navigate air ducts and climb walls to reach the Fertilizer Room. Here, Captain Nickle and his troops await. After a fierce battle, the player must place Lysett’s seed into the central fertilizer machine. However, the system malfunctions, flooding the room with lethal gas. This triggers a timed puzzle where players must destroy four pressure pipes to stop the gas flow, utilizing air vents to reach elevated platforms. The mission culminates with a classic Borderlands twist: the seed instantly grows into a tree whose "Gun Fruits" drop firearms. Lysett declares it a success, rewarding the player with loot and experience, leaving the Vault Hunter to gather an abundance of weaponry.
