Description
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive. It was released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game is set in 14th century France and follows the story of Amicia de Rune, a young noblewoman, and her younger brother Hugo, as they try to survive in a world ravaged by the Black Death. The siblings are on the run from the Inquisition, who are after Hugo for mysterious reasons.
The gameplay focuses on stealth and puzzle-solving, as the siblings must navigate through dangerous environments filled with rats and enemy soldiers. The rats are a central element of the game, swarming and devouring anything in their path. Amicia can use fire to keep them at bay, but she must also use her wits to manipulate the rats and use them to her advantage.
As the game progresses, Amicia and Hugo must work together to overcome obstacles and enemies. Amicia can use her sling to throw rocks and other projectiles at enemies, while Hugo has a unique ability that becomes crucial to their survival.
The game's narrative is driven by the relationship between Amicia and Hugo, as they come to terms with their past and try to stay alive in a world that is falling apart. Along the way, they meet other characters who join them on their journey and help them in their quest.
A Plague Tale: Innocence received critical acclaim for its storytelling, atmosphere, and gameplay. It was praised for its emotional impact, well-written characters, and stunning visuals. The game also tackles mature themes such as loss, family, and the horrors of the Black Death.
In 2021, a sequel titled A Plague Tale: Requiem was announced, continuing the story of Amicia and Hugo. It is set to be released in 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
