Going Rogue - Loot tracker | Borderlands 3 | As Moze, Walkthrough, No Commentary
Borderlands 3
Description
Borderlands 3 is a vibrant looter-shooter known for its distinctive cel-shaded graphics, over-the-top humor, and an insane amount of procedurally generated weapons. Players choose from unique Vault Hunters and embark on a galaxy-spanning adventure to stop the villainous Calypso Twins and their cult. The core gameplay loop revolves around intense first-person combat, collecting vast amounts of loot, and building powerful character loadouts.
The main story mission "Going Rogue" in Borderlands 3 perfectly exemplifies the game's loot-driven progression and clever use of unique mechanics. Set in the swampy Ambermire, this quest involves locating a missing smuggling crew who were tasked with retrieving a Vault Key fragment. The mission introduces the "Rogue-Sight," a special pistol that reveals hidden marks, acting as a crucial tool for progression and uncovering hidden loot.
The quest unfolds as a systematic search for the missing agents of the crew. Players must locate and collect their IDs, which serve as literal "loot" that directly drives the narrative forward. Finding the first ID from the deceased Archimedes activates a loot tracker within the Rogue's base. This tracker, presented as a holographic guide, then directs the player to the remaining agents: Agent Dee, Agent Quietfoot (whose location is revealed through checking marked dead drops), and Agent Domino. Each encounter with a missing agent presents a combat scenario or puzzle that must be overcome to acquire their ID.
The collection of all four IDs is paramount. Upon returning to the base and scanning the collected IDs at a central console, a new, dynamic loot tracker is activated. This final tracker, taking the form of a holographic guide, leads the player through dangerous areas teeming with enemies towards the location of the traitor responsible for the crew's disappearance. This traitor is revealed to be none other than Archimedes, now an Anointed, leading to a challenging boss fight. Defeating Archimedes finally yields the ultimate piece of "loot" for the mission: the Vault Key fragment. "Going Rogue" masterfully integrates the concept of collecting items, in this case agent IDs, into the very fabric of its storytelling and progression, making the act of gathering loot feel essential and directly tied to the larger goal of obtaining the Vault Key fragment. The reliance on the Rogue-Sight pistol to reveal hidden elements further reinforces the idea that uncovering secrets and interacting with the environment is key to both advancing the mission and finding additional rewards.
