Dan The Man: Action Platformer is a popular retro-style action platformer from Halfbrick Studios, known for its humorous storyline and engaging gameplay, reminiscent of classic side-scrolling titles. Beyond the main campaign where players guide Dan through levels filled with combat and obstacles, the game features optional challenges called Battle Stages. These arena-style levels, named in Latin in the main story, offer players a chance to earn stars and gold by defeating waves of enemies. Stars earned in these stages contribute to unlocking specific game icons. A typical Battle Stage begins with a brief stop at a vortex shop where players can prepare with power-ups or items before entering the arena. The objective is to clear a set number of rounds, defeating all enemies that appear. Enemies can come from both Normal and Hard Mode difficulties, adding an element of unpredictability. Visuals often reflect the current world, and players return to the shop between rounds, except for the final one. Unlike main story levels, losing in a Battle Stage doesn't incur a continue penalty, allowing for immediate retries. World 4 of the Normal Mode campaign features four Battle Stages. Battle Stage B11, named "STERCORE MALEDICTIVM," is a four-round challenge. Earning all three stars requires clearing the stage (one star), achieving at least 75,000 points (second star), and scoring 100,000 points or more (third star). Successfully completing B11 unlocks the final Normal Mode Battle Stage, B12, titled "REGNA FOETIDVM." In Hard Mode, available after completing the Normal Mode story, Battle Stage B11 remains in World 4 but is renamed "HOBBES DIXIT." It still consists of four rounds, and the star requirements are the same: clearing the stage, 75,000 points, and 100,000 points. Completing the Hard Mode version of B11 unlocks the Hard Mode B12, "CANTATE OSSIBVS FRACTIS." While the point thresholds are identical, the Hard Mode version presents a considerably greater challenge due to tougher enemies with altered attack patterns.
