Stray is an adventure game that puts players in the paws of a lost cat trying to find its way back home from a walled-off cybercity. This post-apocalyptic environment, reminiscent of the Kowloon Walled City, is filled with sentient robots and dangerous creatures. The cat is aided by a small drone, B-12, who translates, hacks, and helps navigate the complex world. The Control Room serves as the final destination in the game, the place from which the cat and B-12 can finally open the path to the outside world. Located beyond a subway station populated by maintenance bots, the Control Room Area encompasses the station, a lounge, the Control Room itself, and the final exit. This area was historically a restricted zone for human engineers who managed the city, but it has been abandoned since a plague wiped out humanity, leaving only the non-sentient Helper-Bots. Reaching the Control Room requires bypassing security protocols designed for humans. Inside, the room is vast, filled with computers overlooking the entire city. B-12 recovers his final memory here, realizing this was humanity's control center, ultimately unable to stop their demise. To open the city's roof and the exit, the cat must strategically damage machinery while B-12 hacks the mainframe. This intense process proves too much for B-12, and he makes a sacrifice, integrating with the system to disable security, but his drone form is destroyed. As B-12 makes his final effort, the massive roof of the city begins to open, allowing sunlight to stream in and eliminate the Zurks. The Sentinels, their programming tied to the pandemic security protocol, deactivate. The cat then walks through the newly opened door, stepping into the outside world, leaving behind the walled city and its robotic inhabitants.
