Stray is an adventure game where the player controls a stray cat lost in a walled cybercity inhabited by robots. The cat falls into this world, separated from its family, and must navigate neon-lit alleys and dense environments to find its way back to the outside world. Aiding the cat is B-12, a small drone companion who translates, stores items, and helps with puzzles. The city is dangerous, with swarming Zurks and patrolling Sentinels posing threats. The game focuses on exploration, platforming, and puzzle-solving, utilizing the cat's unique abilities. The Dead End chapter in Stray is the seventh segment of the game, marking a transition from the Slums into a dangerous, Zurk-infested area. The narrative here centers on the cat finding and helping Doc, a robotic inventor who is trapped in Dead End while testing his anti-Zurk weapon, the Defluxor. The cat must navigate a utility area overrun with Zurks, eventually reaching Doc's house. Doc reveals he is stranded because his generator's fuse is broken, preventing him from leaving. The cat and B-12 undertake the dangerous task of replacing the fuse, which inevitably attracts a large swarm of Zurks that Doc helps fend off. With the generator fixed, Doc is ready to return to the Slums and equips B-12 with a portable Defluxor. They then proceed through a garage room back towards the Slums, where B-12 gets to test the new weapon on some lingering Zurks. The chapter culminates in Doc's emotional reunion with his son, Seamus, at the entrance to the Slums' Safe Zone. The Guardian in the Slums expresses gratitude for the cat's role in reuniting them and indicates that the next step of the journey lies with Momo and his boat at the Sewers' entrance. Players are given the option to proceed or explore the Slums further before the path to the Sewers becomes a point of no return.
