This spell allows the Dragonborn to magically convert iron ore into silver, and silver into gold. The bandits were essentially attempting to create their own wealth by alchemically transmuting the mine's abundant iron into precious gold. Eliminating the Bandit Chief completes the bounty quest, but the true reward lies in the spell itself, a powerful tool that significantly enhances the game's crafting economy and offers a glimpse into the ingenious, albeit illicit, ambitions of Skyrim's outlaws.
