Chapter 16 - Return to Deathshead's Compound | Wolfenstein: The New Order | Walkthrough, 4K
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Description
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a revitalizing first-person shooter set in an alternate 1960 where the Nazis won World War II, wielding advanced technology. Players control B.J. Blazkowicz, an American veteran who awakens from a coma to join a resistance against global Nazi rule. The game blends classic run-and-gun combat with modern elements like a cover system and segmented health. A key narrative point is a choice in the prologue affecting subsequent events. Stealth is a viable tactic, and players can dual-wield weapons and unlock perks through challenges. Developed by MachineGames, the game focuses on a single-player campaign, praised for its story, characters, and intense gameplay.
Chapter 16, "Return to Deathshead's Compound," serves as the climactic finale. The resistance uses a stolen U-boat to approach Deathshead's fortress, firing a specialized projectile to breach the defenses. Blazkowicz infiltrates through the breach, initially finding a prison area with useful supplies before facing immediate resistance. He navigates a series of heavily defended chambers populated by various Nazi forces, including standard soldiers, Fire Troopers, Guard Robots, and the enhanced Supersoldaten. A circular room, a callback to the first chapter, requires activating a hidden switch to proceed, triggering a fresh ambush.
The path leads to a laboratory where Blazkowicz is ambushed by Bubi, who administers a tranquilizer. Despite being partially paralyzed, B.J. critically wounds Bubi, allowing him to escape through a ventilation shaft. This leads him to elevators, one of which takes him to the prison cells where Anya and other resistance members are escaping. Their elevator malfunctions, separating Blazkowicz and sending him directly to Deathshead on the top floor.
Deathshead reveals the brain of the squadmate Blazkowicz sacrificed earlier, placing it into a robot. Blazkowicz is forced to fight this construct, which is controlled by his former comrade's consciousness. After defeating the robot by targeting the brain casing with grenades, Blazkowicz tearfully incinerates the brain with his Laserkraftwerk, granting his friend peace.
The final battle is against Deathshead in a formidable mech suit. The fight transitions from an open area where Blazkowicz must destroy blimps using rocket turrets to a confined, fire-filled basement. After severely damaging the mech, Blazkowicz pulls Deathshead from the cockpit. Deathshead detonates a hidden grenade, killing himself and mortally wounding Blazkowicz. As the resistance evacuates, Blazkowicz authorizes the firing of the U-boat's nuclear cannons on the compound. The chapter ends with the sound of the explosion and an approaching helicopter, leaving Blazkowicz's fate ambiguous. The chapter also contains several collectibles.
