Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first-person shooter that bridges the gap between the original Borderlands and its blockbuster sequel. The chapter begins with an intense firefight as players push through the war-torn Hyperion Hub of Heroism, facing a more disciplined and technologically advanced enemy. Their path to Jack's Office is blocked by Zarpedon, forcing a detour to reactivate a crucial elevator with the help of a hilariously inept Claptrap unit. This escort mission, filled with chaotic combat and Borderlands' signature humor, highlights the ongoing struggle for control. Upon reaching Jack's Office, the plan to directly access the Eye of Helios is thwarted, leading Jack to task the player with a new objective: to rescue a team of scientists, led by Gladstone, from the Research and Development wing. This wing has become a deathtrap, overrun by escaped Torks, adding another layer of danger to the rescue mission. The chapter culminates in a series of battles to secure Gladstone's scattered team, whose expertise is vital to breaching Zarpedon's security and ultimately confronting the Colonel, setting the stage for the final push to save Elpis.
