Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Description

*Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel*, set on the moon Elpis, chronicles the ascent of Handsome Jack from Hyperion programmer to the iconic villain of *Borderlands 2*. The game maintains the series' signature cel-shaded art and dark humor, enhanced by low-gravity mechanics that revolutionize combat with increased verticality and the strategic necessity of oxygen tanks, or "Oz kits." New elemental damage types, like cryo, add further tactical depth. Players choose from four distinct characters – Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha, and Claptrap – each offering unique playstyles and skill trees, further enriched by cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. The narrative explores themes of ambition, corruption, and moral ambiguity, all delivered with the series' characteristic satirical wit. Within this lunar landscape, the "Hot Head" mission presents a wonderfully bizarre and characteristically *Borderlands* encounter. Found in the Hyperion Hub of Heroism, the quest centers on Dean, an exceptionally irritable Hyperion employee confined to a closet in the World of Shopping. Tasked with calming Dean down, players are equipped with a cryo-elemental Maliwan pistol. Upon opening his closet, Dean unleashes a torrent of comically irrational complaints, lamenting his perceived inferiority to Handsome Jack, his general dissatisfaction with media, and an almost all-encompassing dislike for everything. This exaggerated display of pure, unadulterated rage makes him a memorable and humorous figure. The mission’s objective is to literally "cool Dean down" by freezing him solid with the provided weapon. Despite his aggressive demeanor, Dean is not an attacking threat, but rather a hostile NPC. Successfully freezing him results in a satisfying ice shatter, often yielding loot, and leaves him as a permanent, frozen monument to his own volatile temper. The term "Hot Head" also appears as a customization item for Vault Hunters, dropped by the boss Bosun, but it is Dean's volatile personality that truly embodies the mission's title, offering players a unique and entertaining diversion from the main gameplay loop.
