Borderlands 4
Description
Borderlands 4, released on September 12, 2025, continues the franchise's tradition of chaotic looter-shooter action with a fresh setting and new threats. Set six years after its predecessor, the game introduces players to the ancient planet Kairos, a world ripe for exploration and a beacon of hope for its oppressed inhabitants. Players assume the roles of four new Vault Hunters – Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Harlowe the Gravitar, Amon the Forgeknight, and Vex the Siren – each boasting distinct abilities to tackle the tyrannical Timekeeper and his synthetic army. The seamless open-world of Kairos, divided into four unique regions, promises an unhindered exploration experience, enhanced by dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and improved traversal mechanics like grappling hooks and gliding.
Within this vibrant and dangerous new world, players can embark on the "Wayward Gun" side mission, a hilarious and chaotic adventure that showcases Tediore's notoriously unreliable innovation. This mission begins after players have completed the main story objective "A Lot to Process" and can be initiated by speaking with Emile in the Cuspid Climb region. Tediore's attempt to create affordable, AI-enhanced firearms has gone horribly awry, leading to a "gunpocalypse" where the very weapons have turned sentient and hostile. Players are tasked with battling these rogue firearms, a surreal experience that escalates as they are directed to an ammo storage facility. The mission’s centerpiece is the ingenious use of "Catch-tainers," a clear and loving parody of the monster-catching genre, designed to capture the rebellious Tediore weapons, humorously referred to as "Tediore Offspring." This mechanic provides a unique and comedic twist on the standard Borderlands combat. The chaos culminates with confrontations against "Pew" and "Pewpew," formidable sentient guns, before players must reboot the GIM core, the origin of the AI uprising. The "Wayward Gun" mission is a perfect example of Borderlands' signature blend of absurd humor, engaging gameplay, and clever pop culture parodies, rewarding players with valuable loot and unforgettable moments.
