Borderlands 2 is a vibrant first-person shooter with role-playing elements, set on the chaotic planet Pandora. Gameplay is centered around a massive variety of procedurally generated loot, primarily weapons, which drives exploration and progression. Numerous side quests and DLC expand the world significantly, contributing to its enduring popularity. "Rising Action," or "Подъём," is a pivotal main story mission in Borderlands 2. Taking place immediately after acquiring a Hyperion power core, the mission begins in Sanctuary. Lieutenant Davis initiates the quest, asking the player to install the core into Sanctuary's shield generator, believing it will provide indefinite power. However, this is a trap set by Handsome Jack. Upon installation, the core explodes, killing Davis, and Handsome Jack forces Angel to disable Sanctuary's shields. The city is immediately bombarded by orbital strikes from Hyperion's Helios station, causing widespread chaos and destruction. Amidst the attack, a new plan emerges: Sanctuary must become airborne. The player assists Scooter in preparing the city for takeoff by cycling two ignition primers. Lilith's Siren powers are crucial for this, requiring Eridium. With the Crimson Raider headquarters hit, the player must quickly find five Eridium nuggets scattered in the debris. After collecting the Eridium, the player delivers it to Lilith. Empowered, Lilith successfully phases Sanctuary out of its location, presumably to safety. An unforeseen side effect is that the player is accidentally teleported outside the city walls, into the Three Horns - Divide area. Sanctuary is gone, leaving the player stranded. The objective shifts to making their way overland towards Sanctuary's new, unknown location by navigating through the Three Horns Valley and reaching The Fridge. The mission concludes upon reaching the entrance lift to The Fridge, dramatically raising the stakes and transforming Sanctuary into a flying city.
