Oddmar is a real gem, a super fun action-adventure platformer that totally nails its Norse mythology vibe. You play as Oddmar, a Viking who's a bit of an outcast, not really into the usual Viking stuff. He feels like he doesn't measure up, and he even dreams of Valhalla but feels unworthy. But then, things get exciting! A fairy blesses him with awesome jumping powers, and his village goes missing. So, Oddmar has to step up, go on an epic quest through these gorgeous, magical places, and save everyone. The gameplay is classic platforming at its best. You'll be running, jumping, and fighting your way through 24 levels that are all beautifully made by hand. Each level is packed with clever puzzles and challenges that really make you think and test your skills. Oddmar's jumps feel really good, and you can even do cool wall jumps, especially when you create special mushroom platforms, which is a unique touch. As you go, you unlock new moves, better weapons, and shields, all bought with these shiny collectibles you find. This adds a lot to the combat, letting you block and use special attacks. Some levels even switch things up with chase scenes, auto-runner bits, and epic boss fights, like a giant Kraken! Visually, Oddmar is just stunning. The art style is incredible, all hand-drawn and animated so smoothly, it reminds you of those top-tier animated movies. The world feels so alive and detailed, and the characters all have so much personality. The story is told through these really cool voiced comic book scenes, which makes the whole experience feel super polished. Even the music fits the adventurous mood perfectly. There are tons of secrets to find in every level, like those golden triangles and hidden bonus areas. These bonus levels are challenging but super rewarding, adding tons of replay value if you're a completionist. The game is also really well-designed for playing in shorter bursts, especially on mobile, with good checkpoints. It's mainly a solo adventure, but it supports cloud saves and controllers, which is great. Oddmar really got a lot of praise when it came out, especially on mobile, even winning an Apple Design Award. People loved how beautiful it looked, how smooth the gameplay felt, and how easy it was to control. The level design is super creative, and the whole game just has this wonderful charm. Even if the story is a bit simple and it's not a super long game, the quality of the experience is top-notch.
