Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
ລາຍລະອຽດ
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, a narrative bridge between the original Borderlands and its sequel, unfolds on Pandora's moon, Elpis, and the orbiting Hyperion space station. Developed by 2K Australia in collaboration with Gearbox Software, it meticulously charts the ascent of Handsome Jack from a Hyperion programmer to the megalomaniacal villain players know. The game retains the series' iconic cel-shaded art style and offbeat humor, while introducing new mechanics like low-gravity combat and the strategic management of oxygen tanks, or "Oz kits." Cryo and laser elemental damage types are also new additions, offering fresh tactical approaches to combat. Four distinct playable characters—Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha, and Claptrap—each boast unique skill trees and abilities, catering to diverse playstyles. Cooperative multiplayer for up to four players remains a core feature, enhancing the chaotic camaraderie inherent to the Borderlands experience. The Pre-Sequel delves into themes of power, corruption, and moral ambiguity, challenging players to reconsider the archetypes of heroes and villains. Its humor, laced with cultural references and satire, critiques corporate greed and authoritarianism within its exaggerated, dystopian setting. While praised for its engaging gameplay and narrative depth, it also faced criticism for a perceived lack of significant innovation. Overall, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel enriches the series' blend of humor, action, and storytelling, providing deeper insight into a pivotal antagonist and complementing the broader Borderlands saga through its unique mechanics, characters, and rich narrative.
Within the boisterous world of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, "Zapped 3.0" signifies not a permanent player-held weapon, but the climactic conclusion to a three-part side mission series orchestrated by Janey Springs. This final installment offers the player a temporary, upgraded laser weapon, only for it to be spectacularly annihilated at the command of the explosion-loving Mr. Torgue. Available in Concordia after completing "Zapped 1.0" and "Zapped 2.0," this mission requires the Vault Hunter to eliminate five malfunctioning CL4P-TP units. For this purpose, Janey Springs bestows upon the player a prototype laser, the Disintegrating Zappinator, now imbued with corrosive damage, proving exceptionally effective against the armored robots. After successfully neutralizing the rogue claptraps, the player is directed to return the weapon to Springs. However, Mr. Torgue intervenes with a more "awesome" directive: the complete annihilation of all laser weapons. He guides the player to Serenity's Waste, where the Disintegrating Zappinator is to be placed with a homing beacon. From a safe distance, the player then witnesses a spaceship, heavily armed with explosives, crash into the laser weapon, reducing it to fiery debris in a breathtaking spectacle. Upon completing this explosive finale, the mission is turned in at the Concordia bounty board. Although the player does not retain the formidable laser, Janey Springs mentions her original intention to upgrade it further with shock damage. Instead, as recompense for their "services rendered to explosions," the player receives a unique shotgun, the Wombat, which fires adhesive grenades that detonate near enemies or after a brief delay. Thus, the "Zapped 3.0" mission culminates Janey Springs' quest line in a memorable and explosive fashion, perfectly embodying the chaotic and over-the-top spirit of the Borderlands universe.
