Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

ລາຍລະອຽດ

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a journey back in time, filling in the blanks between the original Borderlands and the iconic Borderlands 2. Developed by 2K Australia in tandem with Gearbox Software, this first-person shooter drops players onto Pandora’s moon, Elpis, and the orbiting Hyperion station. The main draw here is witnessing the tumultuous ascent of Handsome Jack, from a seemingly ordinary Hyperion programmer to the tyrannical overlord we all know and love to despise. It’s a deep dive into his motivations, painting a richer picture of the Borderlands universe with its signature cel-shaded art, witty humor, and a fresh spin on gameplay. The low-gravity environment of Elpis is a game-changer, allowing for exhilarating high jumps and expanded combat arenas. Managing your oxygen supply via Oz kits is crucial, adding a layer of survival to the already frantic firefights. New elemental damage types like cryo, letting you freeze enemies solid for satisfying shattering, and an array of laser weapons further diversify the already expansive arsenal. Four new Vault Hunters – Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, and Claptrap the Fragtrap – each offer unique skill trees and playstyles, ensuring a fresh experience for every player. Cooperative multiplayer remains a cornerstone, letting up to four players band together against the harsh lunar landscape and its inhabitants. The narrative explores themes of power, corruption, and moral ambiguity, challenging players to reconsider the lines between hero and villain. While some noted a familiar feel, the game’s exploration of new territory and characters, coupled with its engaging lore, makes it a strong addition to the Borderlands saga. The Secret Chamber, an optional mission within Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, offers a delightful blend of exploration and lore discovery, all centered around the derelict warship, the Drakensburg. The quest begins with a seemingly simple task: connect a device to a console in the Bosun's room. This action, however, unveils the existence of a hidden chamber, setting the player on a path to uncover its secrets. To gain entry, you'll need to collect ECHOs – audio recordings left by the ship's former commander, Captain Zarpedon. These recordings are the key to bypassing the voice identification system guarding the chamber. The mission guides you through the Drakensburg’s Crew Quarters, with minimal enemy presence, focusing more on backtracking and careful navigation. Utilizing jump pads and making a series of precise jumps, players will ascend to reach the first two ECHOs. The third requires a brief skirmish with an Outlaw who spawns in a designated room. Once all the ECHOs are secured, you’ll return to the chamber door and use the recordings to unlock it. Inside awaits a guaranteed reward: a unique weapon, the Cyber Eagle, nestled within a red chest alongside other random loot. Completing this mission and turning it in to Pickle rewards players with experience, Moonstone, and crucial narrative insights. The ECHOs reveal personal anecdotes from Captain Zarpedon, shedding light on her time commanding the Drakensburg and her thoughts on crew celebrations, mysterious energy pulses from Elpis, and her eventual promotion. The Secret Chamber truly exemplifies The Pre-Sequel’s knack for weaving engaging gameplay mechanics with compelling narrative elements, making it a memorable side quest.
