Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
ລາຍລະອຽດ
*Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel* is a first-person shooter game that fits between *Borderlands* and *Borderlands 2*. It shows how Handsome Jack became the bad guy we know. The game is set on Pandora's moon, Elpis, and the Hyperion space station. We get to see Jack go from a regular Hyperion worker to a supervillain. This story adds depth to the whole *Borderlands* universe, explaining why Jack is the way he is.
The game looks like *Borderlands* with its cel-shaded art and funny jokes, but it also has new gameplay. Fighting in the low gravity of the moon is different. You can jump higher and farther, making battles more vertical. You need oxygen tanks, called "Oz kits," to breathe in space, so you have to manage your air supply while fighting and exploring. New elemental types like cryo and lasers are also in the game. Cryo weapons can freeze enemies, who then shatter, which is great for tactics. Lasers add a cool, futuristic feel to the already varied weapons.
There are four new characters: Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, and Claptrap the Fragtrap. Each has unique skills and abilities, so players can choose how they want to play. Athena uses a shield for attack and defense, while Wilhelm uses drones. Nisha is good at shooting and getting critical hits, and Claptrap's abilities are wild and can either help or hurt your team. Playing with up to four friends is a big part of the game, making it even more fun as you work together to survive the moon and fight enemies.
The story touches on power, corruption, and the gray areas of morality. By letting us play as future villains, it makes us think about how heroes and villains can sometimes be the same. The game's humor makes fun of things and critiques greedy companies and strict leaders, similar to real-world issues. Even though the game is good, some people felt it was too similar to older games and didn't bring enough new ideas. Still, many enjoyed exploring new places and characters in the *Borderlands* world.
In *Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel*, there's a fun side mission called "Kill Meg." You get this quest from Professor Nakayama, who is obsessed with Handsome Jack. He tells you he made a small, genetic monster that's now in a trash compactor and needs to be dealt with. This monster is actually a thresher, a tough enemy in *Borderlands* that burrows and has tentacles.
The fight with Meg is intense. You're put in a trash compactor, and a timer starts. The walls begin to close in, and if you don't defeat Meg quickly, you'll get crushed. You have to shoot the round parts of her tentacles and her eyes to do damage. If you beat her, you can get a powerful legendary submachine gun called the "Torrent."
But Meg is more than just a tough boss. Her name, the mission title, and the trash compactor setting are all references to Meg Griffin from *Family Guy*. Even her thresher model wears a pink beanie, which is Meg Griffin's signature hat. This is a clever nod to a specific scene from *Family Guy's* *Star Wars* parody, where Meg Griffin was the trash monster. The whole mission is like a game making fun of a show that made fun of a movie. Professor Nakayama wanting to get rid of this "abomination" also echoes how *Family Guy* often treats Meg Griffin. So, Meg isn't a character with a deep story, but rather a fun, in-joke boss that shows off *Borderlands'* love for blending action with silly, pop-culture humor.
