When the barrel is destroyed, two Imp Pirates are unleashed. To counter this new menace, players are often introduced to the Spikeweed. This plant, when placed in the path of a Barrel Roller, destroys the barrel (though it sacrifices itself in the process). Successful strategies for Day 7 often involve a balanced mix of sun production (Sunflowers), crowd control with utility (Kernel-Pults for stunning), and area-of-effect damage (Snapdragons). Tall-nuts or Wall-nuts are still useful for slowing down other zombies, but they must be protected from the Barrel Rollers. A common tactic is to establish a strong sun economy in the back, followed by plants that can attack over or bypass the barrels, like Kernel-Pults. Snapdragons are particularly effective due to their ability to damage multiple lanes. Strategic use of Plant Food on Snapdragons can clear entire waves, while using it on Spikeweeds can pull zombies forward for other plants to attack.
