Borderlands 2 is a wild ride through the planet Pandora, a place that's got more bandits, monsters, and questionable decisions than you can shake a rusty rocket launcher at. Developed by Gearbox Software, it’s a first-person shooter that sprinkles in RPG magic, letting you level up, grab crazy guns, and become a certified loot goblin. The art style is something else – like a comic book exploded onto your screen, all cel-shaded and vibrant. You play as a Vault Hunter, on a mission to stop Handsome Jack, a villain who’s so charismatic and utterly evil, you almost want to high-five him before shooting him. The real star, though? The guns. Seriously, there are so many weird and wonderful weapons, you'll spend hours just admiring your arsenal. Plus, you can team up with friends for maximum chaos. "The Great Escape" is a side quest that really hits that sweet spot of Borderlands 2's charm. You meet Ulysses in the Sawtooth Cauldron, a guy who just wants off Pandora. To help him, you’ve got to grab a stolen Hyperion beacon. It’s hidden in this spooky cave called Smoking Guano Grotto, and getting to it involves some tricky platforming and fighting off whatever nasty critters call it home. There's also an optional objective to grab his pet fish, Frederick. It’s these little absurdities that make Borderlands 2 shine. After you’ve done the dirty work and given Ulysses his beacon, you get this darkly hilarious payoff. He’s so sure this little gadget is his ticket to freedom, and then, BAM! A supply crate squashes him. It’s a perfect example of the game’s humor – you help someone escape, only for fate, or more accurately, a poorly placed crate, to have other plans.
