Players, guided by Mordecai, must disrupt three pumping stations to rupture an Eridium pipeline, creating a path into the Badlands and the fort itself. The approach to the fortress is a gauntlet of Hyperion forces. Before even setting foot inside, players face a formidable challenge: Saturn, a colossal loader bot. This boss battle demands strategic use of cover and corrosive weapons to overcome. After defeating Saturn, a lift takes players to an elevated walkway leading to the fort’s entrance, a path swarming with more Hyperion robots and soldiers, culminating in another tough fight against a Badass Constructor, a formidable enemy capable of spawning other robotic units. Inside the fort, the industrial, multi-story design typical of Hyperion dominates. Players must fight their way through corridors and stairwells, facing wave after wave of guards. The resistance intensifies as players ascend. The climax of the mission occurs on the top floor, where the data terminal containing the Warrior's coordinates is located. Activating the console initiates a download, during which players must fend off a final assault, including two Constructors that land on platforms flanking the terminal. Successfully defending the terminal and acquiring the data marks the end of the mission within the fort, requiring players to then return to Sanctuary. While the fort itself doesn't feature unique named enemies for specific legendary loot, the surrounding Arid Nexus area offers valuable drops, including the chance to obtain the Invader sniper rifle and the Hive rocket launcher from Saturn, as well as numerous red chests filled with high-level gear.
