Borderlands 2, fyi, is a first-person shooter with RPG elements. It's known for its comic-book art style, humor, and a vast array of weapons. This place is where a really important and emotional story mission takes place. You go there to save Bloodwing, Mordecai's bird. Jack nabbed her and is subjecting her to these awful slag experiments. You have to fight through Hyperion security and these slag-mutated animals like Stalkers and Skags. The mission is rough; you see how cruel Jack is and even have to fight a horribly mutated Bloodwing yourself, which is pretty heartbreaking. After the main story, the Preserve becomes a prime spot for farming good loot. There's a side mission that, if you don't finish it right, makes rare "Loot Midgets" spawn more often, dropping awesome gear. Plus, there are unique enemies like Pimon and Tumbaa who can drop legendary items. Even after beating the game, you can fight Son of Mothrak there for a chance at a legendary sniper rifle. The place is also filled with hidden stashes, Vault Symbols, and teddy bears to find for challenges, plus ECHO recorders that flesh out Maya's backstory. It's a mix of sterile Hyperion buildings and Pandora's wild terrain, with combat arenas thrown in for good measure.
