Borderlands 4, the much-anticipated continuation of the beloved looter-shooter series, arrived on September 12, 2025, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. This installment transports players to the new planet Kairos, six years after the events of Borderlands 3. The game features four fresh Vault Hunters, including Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Harlowe the Gravitar, Amon the Forgeknight, and Vex the Siren, each boasting unique abilities and skill trees. The narrative focuses on a new group of Vault Hunters assisting the local resistance in overthrowing the tyrannical Timekeeper and his synthetic forces. Kairos offers a seamless open world across four distinct regions, enhancing exploration with advanced traversal mechanics like grappling hooks and gliding. The core looter-shooter gameplay, with its vast arsenal of weapons and deep character customization, remains, supporting solo and co-op play. Post-launch content is planned, including DLC and ongoing updates to enhance the player experience. Within Borderlands 4, "Potty Mouth" isn't a playable character but rather a memorable side mission centered around an artificial intelligence named GenIVIV. This quest, found in the Embracer's Bluff area, introduces players to GenIVIV, an AI housed within a toilet, who expresses herself with a colorful vocabulary. Initially, she prompts the player to deal with the townspeople who have wronged her. However, upon speaking with Mayor Payne, the player learns that GenIVIV has been a persistent annoyance. The mission evolves as players are tasked with finding a new body for GenIVIV, leading them to acquire a "broomba" and an experimental constructor drone. Throughout this process, players encounter choices regarding GenIVIV's fate. After her AI is transferred to a new drone, her personality shifts, leading her to request help in reverting to her original self, culminating in a confrontation with a faction known as the "Order." The quest's climax involves a significant decision: the player can choose to install GenIVIV's AI core into Moxxi's bar's sound system or hand her over to Moxxi, implying her deletion. While the choice impacts the immediate quest outcome, it has a minimal broader effect on the game. Completing the "Potty Mouth" mission contributes to the "Widely Beloved Mascot" trophy/achievement, which requires finishing all of Claptrap's missions.
