Cannonization | Borderlands 3 | As Moze, Walkthrough, No Commentary
Borderlands 3
Description
Borderlands 3 is a first-person shooter released in 2019, known for its cel-shaded graphics, humor, and loot-focused gameplay. Players choose from four unique Vault Hunters, each with distinct abilities, to stop the Calypso Twins and their cult. The game expands the universe by introducing new planets and features a vast, procedurally generated weapon system, alongside new mobility options like sliding and mantling.
"Cannonization" is an optional side mission found on the planet Nekrotafeyo in Borderlands 3. Given by the robot Grouse in the Desolation's Edge region, this quest becomes available after the main story mission "Footsteps of Giants." The mission centers around helping Grouse and his counterpart Sparrow build a prototype defensive cannon.
The task begins with the player, as the Vault Hunter, taking an Energy Trap from Grouse and traveling to a Temple area. Here, the trap must be placed to attract Guardians. Defeating six Guardians is required to capture their 'spirits' and charge the trap. After collecting the charged trap, the player must scavenge parts from Maliwan vehicles – a Stabilizer from a Cyclone and a Shock Absorber from an Outrunner.
Once these components are gathered, the player returns to the research center to install the parts and the charged Energy Trap onto the cannon frame. After a brief moment of energy fluctuation, the weapon, which Grouse calls the Dark Cannon, is complete. Completing the mission rewards the player with experience, in-game currency, and the unique Maliwan submachine gun called the E-Gone.
The "Cannonization" mission is a direct homage to the film *Ghostbusters*. The Energy Trap mirrors the movie's ghost traps, capturing ethereal energy. The E-Gone weapon's name references Dr. Egon Spengler, and its flavor text, "Don't cross the streams," is a famous quote from the film. The E-Gone itself is a unique Incendiary SMG that fires a double helix laser and consumes two ammo per shot, with increased damage and elemental damage but a lower fire rate. Following "Cannonization," the mission "Bad Vibrations" becomes available, continuing the player's interaction with Grouse and Sparrow.
