Borderlands 3 is a first-person shooter known for its distinctive cel-shaded graphics, chaotic looter-shooter gameplay, and irreverent humor. One optional side mission in Borderlands 3 is "Bad Vibrations," found on the planet Nekrotafeyo in the Desolation's Edge area. Given by the bot character Grouse, assisted by the excitable Sparrow, this mission tasks the player with investigating mysterious tremors plaguing the region, dubbed "Nekroquakes." The mission begins with Grouse providing beacons and explosives, initially suspecting Maliwan is the culprit. The player must place three beacons in designated spots around Desolation's Edge to triangulate the quakes' source. After placing the beacons, Grouse identifies a "subterranean abscess," a cave location. Using the explosives, the player blasts open an entrance. Venturing underground, the player fights through enemies to reach the quake's epicenter. Here, the true cause is revealed not to be Maliwan, but a large geological blockage in a steam vent. Grouse instructs the player to use the remaining explosives to destroy this obstruction. Detonating the charges clears the vent and stops the tremors. A helpful updraft allows for a quick exit. Returning to Grouse completes the quest, awarding experience and cash for successfully resolving the bad vibrations. This mission is unlocked after "Cannonization" and can lead to further side quests from Sparrow.
