The journey unfolds across the exotic locales of Desolation's Edge and the Tazendeer Ruins. The path to the key is fraught with challenges, primarily from the forces of the Maliwan corporation. Players must fight through encampments and contend with powerful foes like General Traunt, a recurring boss type known for his elemental attacks and weak point on his back. Navigating the environment often involves clearing obstacles and solving minor environmental puzzles, such as destroying generators to disable force fields. The mission emphasizes combat encounters, requiring players to utilize their chosen Vault Hunter's abilities and manage their extensive arsenal against various enemy types, including standard Maliwan soldiers and ancient Eridian Guardians. Progressing through ancient ruins, players encounter more resistance and a puzzle involving Eridian Crystals to power an elevator. This segment includes another mini-boss fight against Lt. Preston before reaching the Vault itself. Inside, after a final battle, the real location of the key is revealed – buried in a grave, a surprising twist.
