This grants the “Discover the Trial of Cunning” mission, leading players to the Ghostlight Beacon where the trial itself is located. Upon arrival, the player accepts the main quest from the Overseer. The Trial of Cunning follows the standard Proving Grounds format: players must fight through waves of enemies across three distinct areas and defeat a final boss within a 30-minute time limit. Optional objectives, such as completing the trial without dying, finding a hidden Fallen Guardian, and finishing the boss fight with significant time remaining, add extra challenge and potential rewards. Ammo and health vending machines are conveniently placed at the start of the trial. The unique mini-boss for the Trial of Cunning is the Tink of Cunning. This respawnable enemy engages the player primarily with specialized grenades. Initially, it uses Homing Spiked Tires and Fire MIRVs. In its second phase, the Tink gains a random elemental imbument, becoming resistant to that element and replacing the Spiked Tires with a more powerful elemental grenade. These can include Homing Corrosion grenades, Shock Web grenades for area denial, or Incendiary Fireworks, each requiring different strategies to avoid damage. Successfully completing the Trial of Cunning rewards players with experience and money. Crucially for gear farming, the Tink of Cunning has an increased chance of dropping the legendary Dragon and R4kk P4k class mods. The Trial of Cunning offers a focused combat gauntlet that tests a player's ability to handle various enemy types and environmental hazards, providing a repeatable challenge for those seeking powerful loot and a test of their combat prowess.
