First, players obtain a piece of the heart from an abandoned research facility and use it to enhance Gaige's robot companion, Deathtrap, enabling him to break through the energy shield protecting the wedding venue, Heart's Desire. Inside Heart's Desire, the path to Gythian's heart is a labyrinth of puzzles and combat encounters. Players must uncover secret passages, solve a symbol-matching puzzle to open a sealed gate, and defeat powerful guardians. The final confrontation takes place within the heart chamber itself, where players face off against Eleanor and the massive heart. The battle involves targeting crystalline structures on the heart while also fighting Eleanor. After enough damage is dealt, the heart is finally vulnerable. Destroying Gythian's heart breaks the curse, frees Wainwright from Vincent's possession, and ends the threat, allowing the wedding to finally take place in the now-inert chamber.
