Borderlands 3, a renowned looter-shooter, expands its chaotic universe with the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, a blend of humor and Lovecraftian horror set on the icy planet Xylourgos. The story follows the wedding of Sir Alistair Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs, disrupted by a cult worshipping an ancient Vault Monster. Players engage in signature Borderlands combat, facing new enemies and bosses, utilizing themed weapons, and exploring detailed environments. Within this expansion lies the story mission "The Horror in the Woods," a quest to find the cursed Wainwright Jakobs. The journey begins in Skimwater Basin, requiring players to ascend Negul Neshai. After blowing the Horn of the Warrior and proving themselves in combat against Eista and his followers, the path to The Cankerwood opens. Here, the player joins Sir Hammerlock to hunt a Wendigo. This involves tracking the beast through the woods, securing areas by defeating enemies, and investigating tracks. Eventually, the player reaches a drawbridge and lowers it by shooting its counter-weights, allowing Hammerlock to rejoin. This leads to the objective to Infiltrate and Secure outpost. Together, they clear the initial enemies, then fight off more hostiles before opening the main gate with a lever. With the outpost secured, the hunt for the Wendigo continues, involving investigating its dung to understand its diet. This rather unpleasant task requires some platforming. Following this, the player gathers Wolven Meat and travels to a mixing factory to create a potent brew bait for the creature. After a brief encounter assisting Claptrap, the player regroups with Hammerlock. They proceed to the Wendigo's lair, clearing enemies and roots, and finally confront and defeat the beast by targeting its weak spot. The mission concludes back at Eista's gate, where the Wendigo trophies are placed, opening the path to Negul Neshai.
