Ray and the Beanstalk - Toad Story | Rayman Legends | Walkthrough, Gameplay, No Commentary
Rayman Legends
Description
Rayman Legends is a visually stunning 2D platformer that builds upon the fluid and energetic gameplay of its predecessor, Rayman Origins. Players assume the roles of Rayman, Globox, and various Teensies who awaken from a century-long nap to find their world, the Glade of Dreams, overrun by nightmares and their Teensie friends captured. Guided by the helpful Murfy, players embark on a quest through a series of beautifully crafted worlds, accessed through magical paintings, to rescue the Teensies and restore peace. The game excels in its responsive controls, vibrant hand-drawn art style powered by the UbiArt Framework, and a delightful soundtrack that often incorporates catchy musical levels where gameplay is synchronized with rhythm. Cooperative multiplayer is a significant highlight, allowing up to four players to team up and tackle the game's over 120 levels.
The "Ray and the Beanstalk" level, found within the Toad Story world, serves as a delightful introduction to this new environment, drawing clear inspiration from the classic fairy tale. This stage immediately immerses players in a whimsical world of colossal beanstalks, misty swamps, and floating sky castles. The core gameplay mechanic introduced here is the skillful use of upward air currents to ascend the towering beanstalks, requiring precise timing and navigation. As players climb higher, they encounter the primary antagonists of this world: various forms of Toads, some descending via parachute and others standing tall on stilts.
The primary objectives remain consistent with the broader game: rescue the captive Teensies and collect Lums. "Ray and the Beanstalk" cleverly hides numerous Teensies in secret areas, encouraging exploration and rewarding observant players. These secrets can range from underwater passages to hidden holes within the beanstalks themselves. The level’s design also incorporates mini-games, such as a "Soccer Pong" challenge that can free a kingly Teensie, and interactive elements like bouncing bulbs that lead to hidden queen Teensies. Navigating the beanstalks presents various hazards, including menacing tentacle claws and sharp thorny vines, demanding careful platforming. The musical backdrop for the initial ascent is a nostalgic remix from *Rayman Origins*, adding a familiar touch. Furthermore, the level boasts an "invaded" version, which offers a significantly more challenging descent filled with enemies from a different world, requiring quick reflexes to survive.
