SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a vibrant remake of the classic platformer, where players control SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy to stop Plankton's robot army. The game faithfully recreates iconic Bikini Bottom locations and characters with enhanced visuals and gameplay, adding new content like a multiplayer mode and a previously cut boss. The Poseidome serves as an early and significant location, culminating in the battle against Robo-Sandy. This Greek-style colosseum, seen in the animated series, features a modern arena where the first major boss fight takes place. Accessing the Poseidome requires collecting 15 Golden Spatulas. Robo-Sandy is the robotic doppelganger of Sandy Cheeks and the first boss encountered. While her original design closely mirrored Sandy, the Rehydrated version features notable visual changes, including a furnace mouth and metal eyes. Despite being largely mute, her design and attacks are distinct. The fight against Robo-Sandy is a three-phase encounter, requiring players to switch between SpongeBob and Patrick. Each phase demands three successful hits. SpongeBob handles the first and third phases, utilizing his bubble attacks and aerial maneuvers to expose Robo-Sandy's vulnerabilities after her ground pound attack. Patrick takes on the second phase, where he must body slam Robo-Sandy to detach her head and throw it into exposed wires from the damaged scoreboard. The final phase sees SpongeBob returning, facing faster versions of Robo-Sandy's attacks and needing to hit a newly exposed "BOOM!" button to deal damage. Defeating Robo-Sandy grants a Golden Spatula, unlocks SpongeBob's Bubble Bowl move, and opens access to Upper Conch Street. The Rehydrated version introduces changes to the Poseidome setting, including updated audience models and banners, and tweaks to Robo-Sandy's movement speed and attack properties, while removing King Neptune and the Realistic Fish Head from the sidelines during the fight. This early boss fight provides a good challenge and sets the stage for the platforming adventures ahead.
