SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
Description
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a 2020 remake of the original 2003 platformer, bringing the classic SpongeBob adventure to modern consoles with enhanced graphics and features. The game sees SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy teaming up to stop Plankton's robot army from taking over Bikini Bottom. Rehydrated maintains the humor and charm of the show with vibrant visuals and faithful gameplay, allowing players to control the trio with their unique abilities to navigate iconic locations and collect Golden Spatulas.
Goo Lagoon is presented as the third main level in Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, a bustling beach environment accessible after collecting 10 Golden Spatulas. Robots have invaded, causing chaos and stealing everyone's sunscreen. Players control SpongeBob and Patrick to restore order. The level is divided into three main areas: Goo Lagoon Beach, Goo Lagoon Sea Caves, and Goo Lagoon Pier.
Goo Lagoon Beach is the primary area, where SpongeBob utilizes sun reflectors on lifeguard towers to destroy a large robot and recover the sunscreen. This involves navigating between the beach and various islands. SpongeBob also rescues five children floating away on balloons for a Golden Spatula. Patrick assists Mr. Krabs at the pier and uses Stone Tikis to create paths and pay Clams to unlock areas. A prominent feature is the sand castle, a platforming challenge with rising goo levels where players, mostly as Patrick, collect items including a Golden Spatula at the top.
The Goo Lagoon Sea Caves serve as a transitional area, requiring navigation through caverns filled with enemies and platforming obstacles to reach the pier. A Golden Spatula is awarded for completing this section. Finally, Goo Lagoon Pier is the amusement park area, where Patrick helps Mr. Krabs clear out robots. Activities include using a throw fruit to access new areas, a Whack-A-Tiki game for a Lost Sock, and clearing bumper boats for a Golden Spatula. SpongeBob can play Skee Ball and bungee jump from a tower for a Golden Spatula. Rehydrated updated the level's visuals and refined some gameplay elements, like the rising goo in the sandcastle. Goo Lagoon in the game successfully captures the spirit of the show's location, offering diverse challenges and collectibles.
