Hogwarts Legacy immerses players in the wizarding world of the late 1800s, allowing them to attend Hogwarts, learn spells, and explore a vast open world. A key part of the Hogwarts experience is dueling, and the Crossed Wands dueling club offers a structured way to hone combat skills. Crossed Wands Round 1 is a side quest initiated after attending the Defence Against the Dark Arts class, where Sebastian Sallow introduces the secret dueling club. Players meet Lucan Brattleby, the organizer, in the Clock Tower to participate. In this initial round, the player is either paired with Sebastian against Lawrence Davies and Astoria Crickett or can choose to fight alone to impress others. The challenge lies in breaking through the opponents' shields. Lawrence and Astoria primarily use yellow shields, so utilizing spells like Levioso that counteract that color is key to victory. Successfully defeating both opponents marks the completion of Round 1. This round also acts as part of Professor Hecat's Assignment 1, although it can be completed even before the assignment is formally given.
