Hogwarts Legacy immerses players in the 1800s wizarding world, allowing them to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a fifth-year student, players uncover a hidden power and a dangerous secret tied to ancient magic. "The Hunt for the Missing Pages" is a House-specific quest available only to Gryffindor students around level 5 after completing Potions Class and Trials of Merlin. It begins with a message from Nellie Oggspire, informing the player that Nearly Headless Nick wants to speak with them. The ghost reveals he knows about the missing pages from a mysterious book and offers information in exchange for rotten roast beef from the Hogwarts kitchen. Following Nick's instructions, the player "tickles" a pear in a painting to enter the kitchen. After a brief encounter with a house elf, the rotten meat is procured. Nick then reveals the ghost of Richard Jackdaw might know more, but to speak to him, the player must participate in the Headless Hunt, which involves locating Jackdaw's disembodied head amongst pumpkins in a game near The Magic Neep. After finding Jackdaw's head five times, the player can finally speak with him. Jackdaw admits to stealing the pages and agrees to lead the player to the location where he died, believing the pages are atop his remains. This concludes the quest, setting the stage for the next chapter in the search for the missing pages.
