Prologue Lumiere (Short 3), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired fantasy world. Each year, a being called the Paintress paints a number, causing all people of that age to vanish in the "Gommage." Expedition 33 from the isolated island of Lumière embarks on a desperate mission to stop the Paintress. The Prologue, "Lumiere," introduces players to this grim reality. Starting as Gustave, players learn movement and combat mechanics through a duel with Maelle. Later, controlling both Gustave and Sophie, players explore Lumière, interacting with NPCs to understand the city's plight. Optional activities include finding currency, a side quest for Sophie, and a challenging mini-boss, the Mime. The gommage ceremony highlights the game's somber theme. The Expedition Festival follows, where players can earn tokens through quizzes and duels to exchange for useful items and a new outfit. The Prologue culminates with Expedition 33's departure, setting the stage for their perilous journey.
