Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, sees players lead Expedition 33 to stop the Paintress, a mysterious entity annually erasing people of a certain age. Combining classic turn-based combat with real-time dodges and parries, the game offers deep character customization and a compelling narrative as players follow failed expeditions. Spring Meadows is the introductory region, a vibrant fantasy landscape where Gustave awakens alone after a disastrous landing. It’s a linear path initially, teaching basic mechanics and leading to the grim discovery of fallen comrades. Here, Lune joins Gustave, and their survival is tested against new enemies like Portiers and Lanceliers. The Meadows opens into the Grand Meadow, offering a broader view and introducing optional bosses like the Mime and Chromatic Lancelier. Progress leads through encounters with Volesters, a journal from a past expedition, and the curious white Nevron, Jar, who offers an optional quest. The journey culminates at the Indigo Tree, leading to a boss battle against the Évêque, who uses shields and summons.
