Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where a grim annual event called the "Gommage" erases people of a certain age, a cursed number that decreases each year. Expedition 33 embarks on a desperate mission to destroy the mysterious Paintress before she paints "33" and everyone vanishes. Gestral Village, north of the Ancient Sanctuary, serves as a crucial hub for the Expeditioners. This sprawling settlement, the main home of the gestrals, features Chief Golgra's house, a bustling bazaar, a theatre, an arena, a workshop, and an unfinished casino. Historically, it’s been a waypoint for previous expeditions. Upon arrival, players engage in the arena at Chief Golgra's request to gain passage across the sea. The village offers a wealth of side quests, including merchant duels, treasure hunts, and unique challenges that reward players with outfits, weapons, and crucial upgrades, making it a vibrant and essential stop on the perilous journey.
