Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG inspired by Belle Époque France, where players lead Expedition 33 to stop the Paintress from erasing humanity. Gameplay blends traditional turn-based combat with real-time dodges and parries, focusing on character builds and strategic party composition. Within this world, Gestral Village is a vital hub, home to the Gestral species and a central arena. Expedition 33 must compete here to gain access to Esquie, and it's where Sciel, previously fighting as "The Stranger," is reunited with the party after the final one-on-one arena battle against her. The tournament consists of solo fights against opponents like Bertrand Big Hands and Matthieu the Colossus, with a key weapon reward for Maelle if chosen for the final bout. Beyond the main village arena, the Hidden Gestral Arena offers further solo challenges for unique Pictos. Later, the floating Dark Gestral Arena presents more complex fights against Chromatic Sakapatates and a final, demanding duel against Chief Golgra, yielding powerful rewards and cementing the Gestral's combat-centric culture.
