Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Description

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG inspired by Belle Époque France, released in 2025. The grim narrative centers on the "Gommage," a yearly event where the mysterious Paintress erases people of a specific age. Players lead Expedition 33, a group aiming to stop the Paintress before she reaches age 33. The gameplay blends classic JRPG mechanics with real-time elements, offering dynamic combat and deep character customization across six unique "Expeditioners." Within this world, players encounter the Grandis Fashionist, a non-playable character located in Monoco's Station. Accessible in Act 2 after recruiting Monoco, this well-dressed Grandis, easily identified by a large red beret next to a train, offers a unique poetry challenge. This challenge is exclusively for the female party members: Lune, Sciel, and Maelle. When controlling one of these characters, interacting with the Fashionist initiates a prompt where players must complete a poem by selecting the correct rhyming and thematically fitting second line. A helpful hint for players is that the correct answer often contains a comma. Successfully completing each character's set of three poems rewards them with a "Pure" outfit—a white and gold rendition of their default expedition attire. For Sciel, correct responses include lines like "It meets the sea's embrace, where sorrow turns to air." Lune’s poems are completed with answers such as "Winter winds will whisper, the ending of the tale." Maelle's successful lines include "While shadows fade to silence, gone beyond our sight." By switching between these three characters and acing their respective challenges, players can unlock all three "Pure" outfits, adding to the game's array of cosmetic collectibles.
