Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where players lead Expedition 33 to stop the Paintress, a being erasing people of a decreasing age each year. The game blends traditional turn-based combat with real-time dodges and parries, focusing on character builds and exploration. After the harrowing Forgotten Battlefield, Expedition 33 returns to camp, marking a significant shift. Gustave departs, replaced by Verso, who inherits Gustave’s power but requires a new, precise combat style centered on his "Perfection" mechanic. At camp, players can upgrade gear and Lumina with the Curator, and deepen bonds with companions like Esquie, Lune, and Sciel, unlocking new dialogue. Esquie’s new swimming ability opens up vast new areas, revealing hidden dungeons and optional bosses. Finding more Lost Gestrals unlocks the "Paint Break" ability, allowing players to revisit old areas and uncover new secrets. This period at camp expands the world and deepens character relationships, preparing the expedition for their continued perilous journey.
