Jovial Moissonneuse - Boss Fight | Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Walkthrough, Gameplay, 4K
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Description
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, released on April 24, 2025, is a turn-based RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired fantasy world. The game centers on a desperate quest to stop the Paintress, a mysterious entity that annually erases individuals of a specific age, a cursed number that diminishes each year. Players lead Expedition 33, exploring linear levels, uncovering past expedition fates, and engaging in combat that blends traditional turn-based mechanics with real-time dodges, parries, and aimed attacks.
One of the game’s engaging optional challenges is the Jovial Moissonneuse boss fight, located in the vibrant Joy Vale within the Visages area. To initiate this encounter, players must correctly answer a giant floating mask’s question with "Joy." The journey through Joy Vale itself is a preparation, featuring colorful flower fields, enemy encounters like the Contortionniste guarding valuable items, and various collectibles that bolster the party.
The Jovial Moissonneuse itself is an augmented version of a standard Moissonneuse enemy, empowered by the Mask of Joy. It enters battle with two allies, which should be swiftly dispatched to focus on the main target. The boss is vulnerable to Fire and Dark attacks but resistant to Ice. Its attack repertoire mirrors a regular Moissonneuse: short combos of two slashes and a whirl, and longer combos adding a third slash before the spin. The true challenge, however, lies in the Mask of Joy's healing ability, which restores a significant amount of the boss's health (4,000 to 8,000 HP) after each of its turns.
Victory against the Jovial Moissonneuse demands a strategy of high, concentrated damage to overcome its healing. Leveraging its weaknesses to Dark and Fire is crucial; abilities like Monoco's "Cultist Blood" skill are highly effective. The key is to relentlessly out-damage the mask's regeneration. Defeating the Jovial Moissonneuse rewards players with "Chapelim," a weapon for Lune, and returns them to the Plazza area to continue their expedition.
