Monoco's Station (Short 3), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG where players lead Expedition 33 to stop the Paintress, a mysterious entity erasing people annually. Monoco's Station is a critical midpoint, a snowy old train station where the party recruits Monoco, the final member. Upon arrival, players must defeat Monoco in a one-on-one boss battle where he shapeshifts into various enemies. Immediately after, a second boss fight against the Stalact introduces the Gradient Attack system, a crucial combat mechanic. Defeating these formidable foes secures Monoco's allegiance. Post-battles, the station becomes a small hub populated by Grandis NPCs offering quests, powerful weapons like the "Coldum" and "Grandaro," and unique cosmetic rewards from the Grandis Fashionist. Monoco, a Gestral warrior, joins to pursue his love for combat, learning new skills by defeating Nevron enemies, making backtracking vital for his unique progression.
