Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where a mysterious "Paintress" erases people of a certain age, a number that decreases annually. Players lead Expedition 33 on a desperate mission to destroy her before the number reaches "33." The game blends traditional turn-based combat with real-time dodges, parries, and combo systems. Monoco's Station is a pivotal, snowy train station on the Continent, serving as a hub and the recruitment point for the final party member, Monoco. Players first battle Monoco, who shapeshifts into various enemies, then immediately face the ice-beast Stalact, which introduces the Gradient Attack system. After these trials, the station becomes a small hub with Grandis NPCs offering quests and items, like powerful weapons from the Grandis Merchant after returning the "Eternal Ice." The Grandis Fashionist also provides "Pure" outfits through poetic challenges. Monoco, a Gestral warrior, joins the expedition for the thrill of combat, uniquely learning skills by defeating Nevron enemies, enhancing his Bestial Wheel abilities.
