Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Description
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired fantasy world. Players lead Expedition 33, a group of volunteers, on a desperate mission to stop the Paintress, a mysterious entity that annually erases people of a certain age. The game blends traditional turn-based combat with real-time actions like dodging and parrying, encouraging strategic character builds and featuring six unique playable characters.
Within the opulent Sirène's Coliseum, players can encounter Tisseur, an optional boss found within the Sewing Atelier. This colossal, loom-bound puppet is initially non-hostile, but engaging it in combat is highly advantageous. The fight immediately introduces an unavoidable, party-wide death timer curse, typically lasting eight turns, visible above each character. Stunning Tisseur resets this timer, making "breaking" the boss a vital strategy. Tisseur is vulnerable to Fire and Light damage, while resisting Ice, Earth, and Dark, urging players to utilize characters like Lune and her fire-based abilities.
Tisseur employs several distinct attack patterns demanding precise real-time responses. These include a party-wide clap or smash, a four-hit swiping combo requiring jumps and a parry, and a complex five-hit combo culminating in a quick volley of nails to parry. Tisseur can also weave a flying creature, a Glissando, to attack the party.
The decision to defeat Tisseur significantly impacts the subsequent main boss fight against Sirène, the Coliseum's Axon. If Tisseur is left alive, Sirène will summon it, granting her four extra shields and substantially increasing the difficulty. Defeating Tisseur prevents this, making the Sirène encounter far more manageable.
Upon defeat, Tisseur yields valuable rewards, including the Tissenum, a powerful Earth-element weapon for Maelle that enhances her Break damage. Crucially, players also receive the Anti-Charm Pictos, granting immunity to the Charm status effect—an essential advantage against Sirène, who frequently uses charm attacks. The Pictos boosts Health and Defense, and costs 10 Lumina Points to equip. Additional rewards include a Recoat, Chroma, and substantial experience points. A Revive Tint Shard can also be found in the vicinity.
