Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a visually stunning turn-based RPG blending Belle Époque France with a grim fantasy concept where a mysterious Paintress erases people by age. Players lead Expedition 33 on a desperate mission to stop her before she paints "33." The gameplay features turn-based combat with real-time action elements like dodging and parrying, alongside deep character customization and a compelling narrative. Visages' Island in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a profoundly atmospheric and thematically rich location, deeply intertwined with the concept of emotion. Upon arrival, the island is dominated by floating masks and an pervasive sense of feeling, which permeates its level design and enemies. The island is divided into three optional areas, each dedicated to a core emotion: Joy, Sadness, and Anger. These areas feature unique enemies and challenges that reflect their respective emotions. Exploring these vales before facing the area's main boss weakens the final encounter. The climax of the island's challenge involves a multi-phase boss battle against "Visages" and ultimately the Mask Keeper, whose abilities and the battle's difficulty are directly influenced by the player's success in navigating the emotional vales.
