Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG with real-time action elements, set in a Belle Époque inspired fantasy world where a mystical Paintress erases people by age. Players lead Expedition 33 to stop this annual "Gommage." The Paintress boss fight is a multi-phase, climactic encounter atop the Monolith. Initially, the Curatress, a formidable subordinate, must be defeated. This transitions into a two-on-one battle against both the Paintress and a more aggressive Curatress, requiring careful management of status effects like "Cursed Chroma." The final phase sees a remorseful Curatress aiding the player against a weakened Paintress, culminating in a victory that breaks the Gommage cycle and grants powerful rewards.
