Half-Life 2 RTX is a community-driven project by Orbifold Studios, aiming to modernize the 2004 classic using NVIDIA's RTX Remix platform for cutting-edge ray tracing. This remaster preserves the original gameplay and narrative while drastically enhancing visuals with physically based rendering and path tracing. The "WE DON'T GO TO RAVENHOLM... (360° Video)" showcases the transformative power of this project. It plunges viewers into the notoriously terrifying Ravenholm, a chapter redefined by hyper-realistic lighting. Flashlights now cast dynamic, accurate shadows that warp around debris, and every surface, from wet cobblestones to grime-covered glass, interacts with light as it would in reality. The detailed asset overhaul brings zombies and the environment to life with a newfound organic terror. This immersive experience highlights how ray tracing creates a palpable sense of atmosphere, making the already chilling Ravenholm even more dread-inducing. This video was rendered using the Source Engine Panorama Renderer. It allows for high-quality 8K equirectangular output by automating a 22-angle spherical rig capture within the Source Engine.
