"Hammerlocked" is a pivotal story mission in Borderlands 3, serving as Chapter 11 of the main campaign. Taking place after the events on Promethea, the mission underscores the urgent need to reach other Vaults before the Calypso Twins. Initiated by Lilith on the Sanctuary III spaceship, players are directed to the swampy planet of Eden-6 to find and rescue Sir Hammerlock, who is reported to be in trouble. The mission begins with contacting Wainwright Jakobs, Hammerlock's partner, who directs players to his family lodge, Knotty Peak, in the Floodmoor Basin. The journey to Wainwright’s lodge involves fighting through hordes of Children of the Vault cultists. Upon arrival and a brief conversation, Wainwright reveals that Hammerlock is imprisoned in The Anvil, a notorious COV-infested prison. The mission then becomes a perilous infiltration of The Anvil, which is teeming with enemies. Along the way, players are joined by fan-favorite returning characters: Brick and Tiny Tina. Brick helps clear the prison yard, while the now-older Tina requires players to gather components scattered throughout the prison to create a bomb to free Hammerlock. After collecting the "pizza toppings" – a detonator, wires, and nitro – from various guarded locations, Tina constructs the bomb. With the help of another returning character, Mordecai, players clear a path and use the bomb to blast open the door to where Hammerlock is held captive. The final challenge of "Hammerlocked" is a boss fight against the Warden, a multi-phased enemy with varying vulnerabilities and aggressive attack patterns that require strategic movement and targeting its weak spot. Defeating the Warden allows players to finally free Sir Hammerlock by shooting the chain holding his cage. The mission concludes after speaking with Hammerlock, rewarding players with XP, cash, and the unique Cryo sniper rifle, the "Cold Shoulder."
