Tree Hugger | Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

Description

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is a beloved downloadable content pack for Borderlands 2, transforming the familiar looter-shooter experience into a chaotic, fantasy-themed tabletop role-playing adventure. Players join Tiny Tina as she guides them through a game of "Bunkers & Badasses," a Borderlands twist on Dungeons & Dragons. This reimagining replaces Pandora's gritty landscapes with magical realms filled with skeletons, orcs, and dragons, all while retaining the core gunplay and loot-driven progression. Beneath the whimsical fantasy and sharp humor, the DLC tackles the poignant theme of Tiny Tina coping with the loss of a friend, making it a standout piece of content. Within this imaginative campaign, players can undertake the optional side quest "Tree Hugger." This mission is bestowed by Aubrey the Teenage Treant, a character who embodies an apathetic, bored teenager despite her arboreal form. Her human counterpart, Aubrey Callahan III, appeared in a previous Borderlands 2 DLC. Aubrey the Teenage Treant tasks the player with protecting the Forest from encroaching orcs who are logging the area. Armed with a sapling, the player must travel to the orc encampment, known as Blood Tree Camp, and plant it. The gameplay then shifts to a defense phase, where the player must protect the sapling from waves of orcs. Fire-based weapons are particularly effective against these fleshy foes. Once the sapling matures, it transforms into an allied Treant named Mosstache, identifiable by a mossy growth resembling a mustache. Mosstache's objective is to dismantle the orc lumber operation by destroying six orc huts. The player's role becomes escorting and protecting Mosstache from the orcs that emerge from each hut as it is attacked, including tougher variants like Badass Orc Warlords. Successfully completing the mission rewards the player with experience, currency, and potentially a new shield or assault rifle. Despite potential minor bugs that can be resolved with a reload, the "Tree Hugger" mission provides a fun, thematic challenge that fits perfectly within the whimsical world of Dragon Keep.
