Borderlands 2

Description

Borderlands 2 is a vibrant, cel-shaded first-person shooter with RPG elements set on the chaotic planet Pandora. Players, as Vault Hunters, battle the charismatic villain Handsome Jack, seeking alien treasures and endless loot. The game is renowned for its humorous narrative, procedurally generated weapons, and cooperative multiplayer, offering a unique blend of action and character progression. Within this rich world, a series of optional missions known as “Mysterious Sicknesses” offers a quirky exploration of E-tech weapons. It begins with "Medical Mystery," initiated by Dr. Zed after "Do No Harm." The objective is to investigate the origin of peculiar wounds left by a strange weapon. Players, typically around level 8 or 36 in higher difficulties, journey to Three Horns – Valley to confront Doc Mercy. Doc Mercy hides in the Shock Fossil Cavern, a bandit-infested tunnel. He’s a slow-moving Nomad protected by a shield and wielding an E-tech weapon. While easy to avoid, his weapon can be dangerous. When weakened, he throws homing transfusion grenades. Players can lure him out for vehicular combat or use grenades to strip his nova shield before engaging him up close. Upon defeating him, players loot the mysterious E-tech pistol, the BlASSter. Occasionally, a bug prevents immediate looting; leaving and re-entering the area resolves this. Following "Medical Mystery," the quest "Medical Mystery: X-Com-municate" becomes available, tasking players with testing the newly acquired BlASSter pistol. The goal is to kill 25 bandits using only this weapon. Though enemies can be weakened with other arms, the final blow must come from the BlASSter to count. Various bandit types contribute to the tally, and nearby missions often provide ample targets. The BlASSter received from Doc Mercy is unique. Unlike standard E-tech weapons, it can be non-elemental (especially in normal mode), sports a blue rarity skin instead of purple, and may lack accessories or sights, suggesting the game processes it as a blue-rarity weapon rather than a full E-tech item. Interestingly, some explosive kills from other weapons may still count towards the objective. Maya players are advised to respec to avoid accidental elemental kills from "Cloud Kill," as it complicates the mission. Completing "X-Com-municate" yields experience and another E-tech pistol. This questline effectively introduces players to the unique mechanics of E-tech weaponry in Borderlands 2.
