Borderlands 2 is a vibrant, cel-shaded first-person shooter with role-playing elements set on the chaotic planet Pandora. Claptrap, initially thrilled to find a surviving Vault Hunter, guides the player towards his igloo sanctuary. Inside, after warning of local dangers like Bullymongs and their leader Knuckle Dragger, the feared creature promptly crashes through the roof, incapacitates Claptrap by stealing his eye, and makes a hasty retreat. Visually impaired and distraught, Claptrap implores the player, now his "minion," to retrieve an emergency pistol from a nearby cabinet. This simple task is the entirety of "My First Gun." Opening the designated cabinet awards the player with the Basic Repeater, a unique but common rarity Dahl pistol. This concludes the mission, providing a small amount of XP and cash. The Basic Repeater is a starting weapon with fixed parts, including a Bandit barrel that limits its magazine size, and is quickly replaced by more powerful weapons found later. Completing the mission also unlocks an achievement, signaling the beginning of the main storyline and setting the stage for the subsequent mission to retrieve Claptrap's stolen eye.
