Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

ລາຍລະອຽດ

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, a first-person shooter from 2K Australia, fills the narrative gap between the original Borderlands and its acclaimed sequel, focusing on Handsome Jack’s ascent to villainy. Set on Pandora's moon, Elpis, and the orbiting Hyperion station, it explores the grim origins of a beloved antagonist, enriching the series’ lore. The game keeps the signature cel-shaded art style and dark humor, introducing fresh mechanics like low-gravity combat, which allows for higher jumps and strategic aerial assaults. Oxygen, managed through Oz kits, adds another layer of survival to the vacuum of space. New elemental types, cryo and lasers, diversify combat, enabling players to freeze and shatter foes or unleash futuristic energy. With four new characters—Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha, and Claptrap—each possessing unique skill trees, and its hallmark cooperative multiplayer, the game offers varied playstyles and chaotic fun. It delves into themes of power and corruption, prompting reflection on moral ambiguity. While praised for its narrative and gameplay, some felt it leaned on existing mechanics. Nonetheless, The Pre-Sequel offers a compelling expansion of the Borderlands universe. Flameknuckle, the first boss encounter in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, serves as an excellent introduction to the game's combat. This pyromaniac, armored in a mechanical suit, awaits players on Helios Station. The battle unfolds in two distinct phases, testing players' adaptability. Initially, Flameknuckle is encased in a powerful, flamethrowing mecha. His attacks here are primarily devastating melee strikes and torrents of fire from his suit. The key to overcoming this stage is to let the accompanying NPC, Jack, draw Flameknuckle’s aggression. This creates an opening to target the mecha's weak points: its fuel tank and cockpit, located on its back. Players should also be aware of Flameknuckle’s immunity to cryo and incendiary damage during this phase, and maintaining distance often causes him to focus on friendly robots or Jack, leaving him vulnerable. Upon dealing enough damage to the mecha, the second phase begins. Flameknuckle is ejected from his suit and retreats to a nearby box, where he is supported by a constant stream of reinforcements. In this more exposed state, the objective is to eliminate him as swiftly as possible to prevent being overwhelmed by the spawning soldiers. A headshot is the most effective way to deal critical damage and bring the encounter to a swift conclusion. For those looking to farm Flameknuckle for loot, it’s important to note that he doesn't respawn in his initial location. However, a clone of him can be found and farmed in The Holodome, specifically during the first round after activating all jump pads and during the Badass Round. He has a higher chance of dropping the legendary Torgue rocket launcher, the Nukem, particularly in True Vault Hunter Mode, though it can also be acquired via the Grinder.
